Just recently our China team held our fourth summer camp in Chengdu where people from across the country joined in various activities, over two and a half days, promoting animal welfare. In a combination of hands on activities and classroom techniques, the time on site saw them all fired up to spread the message of pro-active help for animals once they returned home. Best friends for life

He is willful, naughty and a master at pretending to be deaf. He ignores all attempts at positive reinforcement during training, he professes not to have a clue how to sit, and finds fiendish pleasure in going over, under, or through any door that has the audacity of attempting to hold him in. Leave him for a short while – whether to attend a meeting, or catch up on some bear related business – and his soulful cries can be heard at least halfway around the sanctuary.

Dieter going all out for the bears

Dieter Häckl, a long-time supporter of Animals Asia will soon be joining over 3,000 triathletes and 600 relay teams to take on the world's largest triathlon, "Challenge Roth" in the town of Roth, Germany. This includes a multitude of challenges - swimming 3.8km in the Main-Donau-Kanal, cycling 180km, and finally running a marathon of 42.2km. Add the heat of the summer temperature in Roth, and you have some idea of the true task that Dieter is taking on.

Jill founded Animals Asia in 1998, after an encounter with a caged bear on a farm in China changed her life forever. She now heads a team of over 300 enthusiastic staff and divides her time between our bear rescue centres in China and Vietnam and our Hong Kong head office. She travels extensively to participate in conferences and speak at fundraising events.
