Animals Asia founder and CEO Jill Robinson to speak at event marking 75 years of the United Nations
16 October 2020
Jill Robinson, the founder and CEO of Animals Asia, will speak at an event on Friday 23 October to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the United Nations (UN), and mark five years since the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were launched.
The public event, Nations United - We’re Out of Time will feature a live broadcast of the acclaimed film Nations United: Urgent Solutions for Urgent Times and ten inspirational speakers, including Jill, who have an important message to share about their vision and work in the context of achieving the 17 SDGs by 2030.
This year’s anniversary comes at a time of global turmoil and uncertainty, both from the Covid-19 outbreak and the mounting evidence that suggests our planet is facing irreparable damage.
Jill will speak about how our treatment of animals has directly and indirectly contributed to both these crises, and how by changing attitude towards animals and approaching them with kindness and compassion, we could go a long way towards preventing future pandemics and slowing or reversing climate change.
The event is hosted by Hong Kong's largest eco wellness media platform Green Queen, and promises to raise awareness of the social and environmental goals set by the United Nations.
Nations United, a short film from the UN and directed by Richard Curtis (famed writer of Four Weddings and a Funeral and Bridget Jones’s Diary), “tells the story of the world as it is, as it was, and as it could be”. It features a host of A-list celebrities who are passionate about the UN’s goals of tackling “poverty, inequality, injustice and climate change”.
To join the event, which will take place from 05:30 - 06:40 GMT (12:30 - 13:40 HKT) and hear Jill speak, sign up here, or watch Nations United here.
