Team Moon Bear wows the crowds at the 2021 Bearlympics
02 September 2021
Just like the winners of the 2021 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the rescued bears at Animals Asia’s sanctuaries are strong, nimble and natural athletes.
We wanted everyone to see just how incredible the bears’ natural abilities are, so we’re proud to present the ‘Bearlympics’!
Throughout the games taking place in Tokyo, we shared clips of our rescued bears demonstrating the awesome skills they display on a daily basis, such as water polo…
… gymnastics…
… swimming…
… weightlifting…
... diving… and blowing bubbles!
… foraging…
… shotput…
… triathlon…
… water wrestling…
… artistic gymnastics…
… climbing…
… running…
… pawball…
… hammock wrestling...
… and everyone’s favourite, the ‘nothing much’!
The bears at our sanctuaries have spent years, sometimes decades, cooped up in tiny cages without the ability to exercise their innate skills such as climbing, swimming and wrestling.
Yet, after arriving at our sanctuaries and receiving the dedicated care, love and support of our expert vet and bear care teams, they slowly start to discover those skills that have always been there, just waiting to be nurtured.
Just like elite athletes, the bears in our care have a nutritious and balanced diet, one that is tailored to each bears’ specific needs, receive physiotherapy if their bodies need help to get moving again, and are observed carefully to make sure they are happy, healthy and thriving in our care.
Help us rescue even more bears who are still out there, languishing on bile farms, and bring them home where they too can have the freedom to display their beautiful and incredible natural skills, just as they would in the wild.
